To set up your BT mail in Man Mail, you need to first open up Mail in your Mac device and from the application menu, click on Preferences. A window displaying all the email accounts that have been set up with the mail will appear before you. In case the window fails to appear, select Accounts icon present on the top of the window.
Now, at the very bottom of the Accounts pane, you will see a plus button clicking on which enable you to add new accounts. Now, click on Add other mail account and tap on Continue button. A screen asking for your details will appear. Enter the details it asks for and ta on the Create button. This will prompt a response stating that the account will have to be configured manually. Tap on the Next button and in the incoming server info that will open up before you, make sure that the mail server is exactly the one entered below and that your username is your complete email address. Click on Next to open up the page for outgoing server information. Make sure the mail server is the same as mentioned below and the username is your complete email address. Now, click on create, which will set up your Mac mail account and show it to be ready to use. So, close the window asking for preferences and you can begin.
Your Server Settings for incoming server and outgoing server should be as follows:
Incoming Server Settings
- Server name: outlook.office365.com
- Port: 995
- Encryption method: SSL
Outgoing Server Settings
- Server name: smtp.office365.com
- Port: 587
- Encryption method: SSL/TLS
- SMTP authentication: ticked
- Authentication: your password
In case you use software OS X 10.9, the steps you have to take are somewhat similar to the steps mentioned above, except that you will have to select your account type as other account… in the options you get, enter all of your details and wait as the account is checked. This will inform you that the account needs to be configured manually. Select the tab for POP and select outlook.office365.com instead of pop3.btconnect.com before you click on Next. In the next window, select smtp.office365.com instead of smtp.btconnect.com and click on Create.
You can now close the window for setting and start working with your account as usual.
